We’ve been in Madrid for about a month now, although at the rate we’ve been going, it simultaneously feels like the world’s longest and shortest month ever.
I haven’t had a chance to reflect much, but in scrolling through photos, I came across this one, which I snapped back in Seattle at the Olympic Sculpture Park. It’s part of Roy McMakin’s Love & Loss, although to date, I’ve really only focused on the ampersand.
Today, Love & Loss feels particularly poignant. I love Seattle, and I mourn the loss of what I considered my hometown and all that was comfortable and familiar. But I also love Madrid, and I’ve lost that sense of restlessness and was a nagging need to shake up my life.
Perhaps Attain completes my Love & Loss equation: I have undoubtedly leveled up through love and loss as of late.
