When I travel, I like to pick up a few key phrases in the local language. One of my favorites to learn is “thank you”. I like to be very polite! Additionally, I often rely on the kindness of strangers, especially those who somehow manage to understand my often absurd attempts to pantomime thoughts. It feels good to be able to thank people in the local language.

In case you were curious, in Finnish, “thank you’ is “kiitos” (pronounced KEY-tos).
