Dane and I visited Cairo in 2015, and went up and down the Nile, visiting temple after temple. This included the Abu Simbel temples, which are monuments that look far larger in person than in photos. It makes it all the more impressive that they were moved in the late 1950s, due to the construction of the Aswan High Dam. Moving these temples was an international collaboration, and out of gratitude, Egypt gifted Spain the Temple of Debod, which was reconstructed in el Parque del Oeste.
